I worked with Chuck for a number of years at DoIT. He must have been determined to singlehandedly disprove the stereotype of the socially awkward IT guy. He was one of the most genuinely open and friendly people I've ever met. When I told Chuck that my wife and I had bought our first house he told me of his woodworking hobby and his goal to open a handyman business in his retirement. He was an aggressively valuable source of advice about house projects, always making a point to ask me what we were up to and offering tips on our current project (most of which I followed). I have missed seeing him at work , and will continue to think of him.

We learned of Chuck's passion for home improvement, through his beautiful and talented wife, Ann: a genius with stained glass. No craftsman prepared more before a project: he was exceedingly meticulous in executing even the smallest of tasks. Both spoke adoringly of their daughter, Katie. While his life was too short, it was well-lived. In Christ's love, Debbie and Dwight Pautz

Chuck and I worked together only a short time before his retirement from the UW. During that time he shared many stories with me from his prior jobs and hobbies. Chuck was generous with his wisdom and kind in his words. I certainly would have enjoyed spending more time with him. He was one of the first people to welcome me to the UW which I will always remember. My condolences to his dear friends and family.

I had the privilege of working with Chuck off and on for the past 14 years. Chuck was always a very positive person who just made you feel comfortable and relaxed. After all the years working together, it was just one year ago while I was working at a car show, I found out that Chuck also enjoyed car shows - he arrived with his wife in their VW Beetle convertible. That will be one of the great memories I will cherish in my time of knowing and working with Chuck- he really was one of the good guys. Chuck, you will be missed. -Bill Zimmerman

I worked with Chuck for several years on the Kronos project at the UW. The work was difficult but being part of team made it fun. I am far from being an IT person. Chuck was very patient with me and offered some comic relief to my daily struggles. When my dog passed away, Chuck made me the most amazing shadow box to keep all my memorabilia in. It's just beautiful. He is a very caring and giving individual. When he heard that my father was diagnosed with the same cancer he was very supportive and really very open. He answered every question I had. Chuck, You will be missed by many but you are with your Maker and at peace. - Lisa Learish
