Obituary
MIDDLETON-Harold J. (Andy) Anderson lived from May 1942 to Aug. 3, 2014. Andy was born to Leona and Theodore Anderson and grew up on a farm on Madison's east side. He attended Monona Grove High School and the UW-Madison. In the early 70s he ventured West, developing a love for the Rockies and the great Mojave. In 1983, Andy met his soul mate, and they relished 31 years together. Andy retired from the UW System in November 2012 after 22 years of service. Studying the Bible and lands of the Ancient East was a favorite pastime along with tending his garden. Andy enjoyed chats with his wonderful neighbors on Violet Place and all the joy the neighborhood kids brought to his life. Andy is survived by his spouse Barbara Nilsson; stepson Matthew Schmitz (Kristin Lampe); grandchildren, Ty and Brooke; sister Dorothy; Barbara's family Marie (Norbert) Nilsson, Susan (Jim) Davis, Mark (Brenda) Nilsson, Robert (Meredith Wu) Nilsson, Rita (Steve) Dalbec, Anne (Jeff) Barnett, Lawrence (Robin) Nilsson and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. A Memorial Service will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 11:30 AM on Sat. May 23, 2015. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Thank you, Agrace Ruby Team, and those who visited, prayed and cared for Andy during his illness. Andy and I go back to Frank Allis grade school and Monona Grove HS and hot rodding in the car club and drinking beer in the 60's. We had a lot of good times together. He was a great guy and he will missed

Andy and I met in the 60's. We both loved cars, as did many of our friends, Marty, Dave, Gary, Charlie and many others. Through the years we developed other interests, got married, raised families and moved to different locations, but those times together were some of the best times of my life. God speed Andy.
