Obituary

Holm, Helen C. OREGON/JANESVILLE/COOKSVILLE/STOUGHTON-Helen C. (Feggestad) Holm, age 91, of Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Sienna Crest Assisted Living. She was born on Dec. 27, 1922, in Stoughton, the daughter of Harold and Edith Feggestad. She married Raymond Holm on Feb. 21, 1943, in Sand Point, Idaho. Helen graduated from Stoughton High School. She was employed by Oregon School District for the lunch program and with WPS for 13 years. Helen’s deep love for her family meant they always came first. She dedicated herself to her husband, Ray of 52 years, which included being his caretaker during a long illness. She and Ray loved taking fun family trips and vacations with their three children and also going camping on weekends with relatives. There were many great family get-togethers and birthday parties. They continued to enjoy traveling all through their lives, both in the U.S.A. and throughout Europe and Norway. They would always be in the “cheering section” for their children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, horse shows and band concerts. Helen really loved getting together with her three sisters for coffee, desserts and lots of talking and laughter. She shared a very special bond with them. Helen loved to bake, and her cookies and cinnamon rolls were everyone’s favorites. She also took great pleasure in reading, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. She was an avid sports fan of the Badgers, Packers and Brewers. Helen is survived by her children, Sue (John) Mihlbauer and Steve (Sherry) Holm; grandchildren, Erik Holm, Jeff (Amy) Holm, Bryan (Karisa) Mihlbauer, Melissa (Aaron) Becker, Bethany (John) Adamec and Patrick Holm; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores White, Liz (Bob) Deegan and Marion Harrington; brother, Hal (Linda) Feggestad; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Holm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; son, Don; brother, Arnold; and many beloved relatives. A funeral service will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood, Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Friday, July 18, 2014, with the Rev. Emily Tveite presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran church, Oregon Public Library and/or Agrace HospiceCare. Helen’s family would like to thank her long-time physician, Dr. Orest Kostelyna for his compassion and support. They would also like to thank the caring and wonderful staffs of both Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Oregon and Agrace HospiceCare. With their support, Helen handled her health challenges of the past year with courage and determination. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Dear Sue and family. I am so sorry to hear of your mother Helen's passing. I know it has been a couple months since she died but I just heard about it recently and I hope you still get this message. This is a wonderful picture of your mother on this site and that is how I remember seeing her with her hair freshly done and always dressed so nicely. I am sure that you will always miss her but time does soften that sadness and the good memories shine thru. I get back to Oregon from time to time to visit with my mom and perhaps sometime we will run into each other. Life in N.C.is so sweet living near our son and his three children. I hope that you too will get your grandchildren close to you someday' GodBless you and yours Fay Gaukel (former receptionist at B.J.;s beauty shop)
