Obituary
Scallon, Brian J.
MONONA-Brian J. Scallon, age 83, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Sept. 30, 1930, in Boscobel, the son of William and Margaret (Phelan) Scallon. Brian was one of nine children. His father passed away at a young age and Brian’s mother moved the children to Manitowoc where he finished High School in 1948. Brian served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1953. He attended Radar Maintenance School and later became a Radar Maintenance Supervisor in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. Upon his honorable discharge, he went to AT&T and worked for 30 years as an engineer before retiring in 1986. Brian loved his job and his co-workers. Brian always said marrying Betty (Kraemer) was the best thing he had ever done. They were married on Feb. 9, 1957. He loved his wife and children very much and his six grandchildren. Brian was passionate about golfing and played as long as he was able. He enjoyed morning coffee at McDonalds and Kohls Grocery Store on Monona Drive and more recently at Heritage Apartments. The weekly Men’s Group at Heritage Apartments was something he looked forward to. The friendships he made at Heritage meant so much to him. He always shared his jokes and appreciated the company of his friends. Brian is survived by his wife, Betty of 57 years; daughters, Karen (Terry) Brennan; Marybeth (Scott) Little, and Jill (Todd) Stockard; grandchildren, Cody Brennan, Megan Brennan (Chris), Kino and Cole Little, Claire and Will Stockard; and sisters-in-law, Beverly, Carole, and Carol Scallon. Brian was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Julia (Jack) Durrell and Martha Scallon; brothers, Harold (Ruth) Scallon, Father Joseph Scallon S.J., Mike (Betty) Scallon, Hugh Scallon, Tom Scallon, and Leo Scallon; and two nephews, Dennis and Steve Scallon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St, Monona, at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 28, 2014 with Father John Silva presiding. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors being conducted. My deepest sympathies to the family of Mr. Brian Scallon. The loss of a dear loved one can be one of the greatest things we have to deal with in our life. My heart go out to your family. At 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 the Apostle Paul says "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort..." May you continue to gain the comfort you need from him as well as your family and friends in this time of your grief.

Brain was one of the funniest people I have ever met. He was honest to a fault, down to earth, and raised some of the best people I know. I enjoyed every minute I spent with him and his family and looked forward to seeing him. He was fun to be around and made you feel special. The best thing you can say is he left the world a better place after he left.
