Doris I Myers

Myers, Doris I. MADISON-Doris I. Myers, age 95, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the Nazareth Health and Rehabilitation in Stoughton. She was born on June 23, 1919, in Leon, Iowa, the daughter of Samuel and May (Davis) Varnum. Doris was united in marriage with Jack Myers on April 3, 1943, and they enjoyed over 61 years of marriage until his death in 2004. She was a longtime resident of Madison. Doris was a proud graduate of Mt. Sinai School of Nursing in Milwaukee as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Madison. In her spare time, Doris enjoyed entertaining family and friends, sewing, quilting, baking and reading. Although she had many interests, her greatest enjoyment was being with her family. Doris is survived by her children, Jill (Ez) Siegler, David (Lynn) Myers, Lisa (Brian Butcher) Heidt and Todd Myers; her grandchildren, Pat (Mel) Siegler, Greg (Julie) Siegler, Molly (Carey) Bernier, Amanda (Garth) Nelson and Christina Heidt; her great-grandchildren, Jacob, Lydia and Brian Siegler, Will and Eli Siegler, Elle and Sophie Bernier and Nicolas Nelson; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings. A Memorial Service celebrating Doris' life will be held at ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2165 Linden Ave., Madison, at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, with her grandson, the Rev. Patrick Siegler officiating. Entombment will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
