Jenkins, Robert W.
DEERFIELD-Robert W. Jenkins, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014. He was born on June 16, 1949, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of Arlowine (Arts) and Wes Jenkins. He married Carmen Carrillo on May 10, 1979. Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from June, 1969 until January, 1973. He moved to Deerfield in 1985. He was employed with the City of Madison, Water Utilities. Robert was a member of VFW Post No. 8483 and a former volunteer firefighter for Deerfield. He enjoyed deer hunting with his boys, camping and sitting around the bonfire. Robert is survived by his wife, Carmen; three children, Chris, Joshua (Nicole) and Erika (Zach) Doherty; four grandchildren, Caleb, Ella, Ava and Declan; a sister, Deb (Larry) Agee; two brothers, Rick (Donna) Jenkins and Kevin (Margie) Jenkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Charlotte Hagedorn and Jackie Maystadt; and brother, Tom Lambert. A Mass of Christian Burial with military rites will be held at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, 424 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, at 11 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2014, with Father Michael Tarigopula presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive., Madison, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2014, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
