Eugene Miles Miller
November 06, 1937 - June 24, 2014
Obituary
MIDDLETON-Our fun-loving and good-natured Eugene “Spotty” Miller, age 76, left this world peacefully, at home, on June 24, 2014, after a four-star battle with cancer. He was born November 6, 1937, the son of Verne Miller and Florence Stormer, grew up in Middleton’s (Wisc.) Pheasant Branch neighborhood, and joined the U.S. Marine at a young age, serving our nation proudly for four years.
Eugene married the love of his life, Annette Louise Phelps, on October 21, 1967. They enjoyed road trips out west, visiting casinos, and bonfires out at “the farm.” He loved hunting up north, camping on the Wisconsin River, and NASCAR. Called “friend” by many, he drove big rigs for many years before specializing as a diesel-engine mechanic.
He is survived by Annette and their sons, Brian, Aaron (Danielle), and Duane (Becky); grandsons, Jerod and Matthew; brother, Jim; sisters, MaryJo Matz and Janet (John) Topp; and beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom, John, and Charles “Skip”; sister-in-law, Jeanette (Jim); brother-in-law, Don Matz; nieces and nephew, Cindy, Sharon and Tom Matz; and nephew, Richard “Ricky” Topp.
The family is grateful for Madison’s VA Hospital and the devoted team from Agrace who helped in countless ways.
A private family gathering will honor Eugene this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be suggested to the family. “We hope the pork chops are perfect and the Miller High Life is good and cold where you are, dear husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.” Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Eugene, we were blessed to have such good neighbors! Our cat Cisco loved you so, and when he passed away you gave me a mini-stuffed cat, which I cherish. We sure had some great times camping on the river. You were always the "keeper of the fire" and your flame will never go out in our hearts. Love to all... Mark Hale and Dawn Danz-Hale
