Obituary
Paulson, Steven, R.
Pardeeville/Madison- Steven R. Paulson, age 59, of Pardeeville, passed away on Monday June 30, 2014, at UW Hospital. He was born on Jan 10, 1955, in Madison, the son of Richard B. Paulson and Eleanor V. Paulson. Steve married his middle school sweetheart, Paula L. Garfoot, on March 30, 1974. After more than 40 years, he still introduced her as “My Bride.” Steve died from injuries he received while they were riding his prized possession, a 2003 Harley Ultra Classic. Steve was an avid experienced rider of 44 years. He defeated kidney cancer in 2013 and was beating heart disease. If not riding one of his Harleys, he enjoyed winemaking, beer making with his label of “Grama No Toes,” named after Paula’s grandmother, Clara. Some other hobbies were “3 ball”, horseshoes, fishing, hunting, camping and he loved cooking. Steve was an officer and member of Hope Rod and Gun Club, McFarland for many years. He was an accomplished woodworker as a hobby, making anything from cabinets to furniture and elaborate jewelry boxes. Steve was in the Marine Corps, enlisted for Vietnam. He was employed as a printing specialist for nearly 25 years with Rural Ins. Due to downsizing, he was taken on by One Touch Point, CCI. Steve learned the printing trade in high school and carried it on through his life. At one time he owned and operated a home shirt screening business. Papa adored his 3 grandkids. He was the “go to” guy for any and every question imaginable. Nothing too big or small, challenges were the best. Steve was a real jack of all trades, a master to none, except, being the best friend, husband, dad and papa anyone could ask for. He is survived by his wife, Paula; daughters, Deanna (Brad) Webb and Sacha Paulson; grandsons, Cory Paulson and Ty Webb; granddaughter, Michaela Paulson; mother, Eleanor Paulson; sister, Lori Zander; and nephew, Kyle Zander. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Richard; a niece, Lindsey; grandparents; aunts and uncles. Also beloved pets, Buddy, Chelsea, Carlo, Toad, Prudence, Ashley and Siegfried. A Celebration of Steve’s life will be held at his home in rural Pardeeville, W3139 Grouse Rd. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., with military honors being conducted at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Budda Box Against Cancer, P.O. Box 91, Westfield, Wis., 53964. “Until we meet again, shiny side up. We love and miss you.” Steve’s motto: “He who dies with the most toys wins.” We think you won. Paula, Ellie, Deanna, Sasha, and Lori,
My heart goes out to you in the passing of Steven. He always was a force of life. Following is a poem that seems to fit: "Those we Love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, Unheard, but always near. Still Loved, still missed, and forever dear." -Unknown
God has Steven in his keeping, we have him in our hearts.
I love you all and think of you daily. God Bless you in your hour of need.

Paula and family. I have been keeping track of things through Ricky and Marilyn. I am so saddened by the news of Steve's passing and that you are struggling with a long road of physical recovery as well as emotional recovery. Know that I am sending loving thoughts and hugs your way and though it is of small consolation I can feel Pud, Kevin and Roller all having a great time reunited once more.
Thinking of you at this time when I know there simply is no comfort.

Paula and family, know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love is stronger than death even though it can’t stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can’t separate people from love. It can’t take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death. – Author Unknown

Paula and Family, so sorry for the loss of Steve. Used to love to see you all at the Legion picnics when we were on Lien Road, and at other get togethers! "Lord, when my soul is weary and my heart is tired and sore, and I have that failing feeling that I can't take it any more: then let me know the freshening found in simple, childlike prayer, when the kneeling soul knows surely that a listening Lord is there." Also, please remember, or read the 23rd Psalm. God Bless You All, Today and Always!

Paul Cobb I never got to meet you Paula but Steve and I go back quite a few years in the printing industry. He was a very very longtime friend. I almost tipped over when John at one touch told me what happened. When you know someone that long its difficult to accept. Anyway my best wishes to you and I hope you are recovering very well. I will be going to Missouri for my brothers sons wedding the weekend of the celebration for Steve otherwise I would be there. Take care.
