White, Gerald G. “Jerry”
MADISON-Gerald G. “Jerry” White, age 83, of Madison passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Oak Park Place. He was born on Feb. 17, 1931, in Friesland, Minn., the son of Clarence and Frances (Hartland) White. Gerald married Virginia “Ginny” Fritz on Sept. 8, 1951, in Hinckley, Minn. He attended Hinckley High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950. Gerald was a volunteer fireman and member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus, in Hinckley. He was also a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church. He owned and operated Hinckley Cleaners and was recruited by 3F Laundry, in Madison, to manage the business and eventually purchased the business. Jerry sold the business in 1985 and after a brief retirement, the draw of the cleaning business brought him back to open Whistle Stop Cleaners. He enjoyed all things trains and sports (Badgers and Brewers), but especially being with his family and wonderful grandchildren. Jerry is survived by his wife, Ginny; children, Kelly (Mary Anne) White, Jolayne (Bill) Greco, Todd (Jill) White, Colleen Helgerson, Scott (Sue) White and DeDe (Jeff) Freeman; nine grandchildren, David, Brigett, Krissa, Melissa, Brian, Madison, Jacob, Erin and Riley; two great-grandchildren, William and Ryland; sisters-in-law, Marcy Thompson and Paulette White; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Don Thompson, Edythe Collins and Frank White. A time of fellowship with family will be held at at ST. PATRICK'S CHURCH, 203 Lawler Ave., South, Hinckley, Minn, at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014, with funeral services to follow at 11 a.m. Father Joseph Sirba will preside over the funeral mass. A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery, in Hinckley, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be suggested to the family for a memorial to be designated. Big Jer/Papa GG loved his family and was proud to tell his friends about his six children… boy, girl, boy, girl, boy, girl. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
