Obituary

MADISON – Lydia Keerd, age 95, of Madison passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born on September 1, 1918 in Estonia. Lydia is survived by her son Mati (Lisa) Keerd, grandsons Alexander, Kevin, Matt (Samantha), and daughter, Liina Keerd. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmar Keerd. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Rosewood Villa Apartments, 902 North High Point Road, Madison, WI 53717 on June 25th at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Curt Everson presiding. A private burial will be held in New York in July. The family would like to add a special thank you to the staff of St. Mary’s Hospital and to the staff of Capitol Lakes Wellness Center in Madison for the wonderful care and support they provided for Mom. I have said before that I always thought Lydia should have run for Congress. She would have made a formidable politician. I smile when I think about it. I have all the letters and Christmas cards she sent me, I will treasure them always. She was such a sweet kind and fun person to be with. I remember going over to Liinas house and sitting in the kitchen with Lydia, Liina, Fiat and Knutsey!!! You are in my thoughts and prayers, Love Chrissi
