Obituary
DEFOREST – Marietta C. (Heisig) Hagen Schrader, age 83, of DeForest, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2014, of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. She was surrounded by the comfort and love of her family at the Agrace HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. Marietta was born on April 6, 1931, in DeForest, the daughter of Grover and Nettie (Kusrow) Heisig. She married Ronald A. Hagen in 1950 and enjoyed 32 wonderful years with him. He preceded her in death in 1982. In 1987 she married Harold A. Schrader. Marietta was a member of Burke Lutheran Church. She held the position of Clerk for the Town of Burke for many years. Marietta had a love for gardening. On sunny days you could find Marietta and Harold working together to keep their garden in magnificent bloom, sitting on the porch swing bird watching, and simply enjoying all of nature’s beauty. When not in her garden, she could be seen packing up the car, getting ready for the next road trip adventure. One of those adventures lasted over 10 years in North Carolina. Marietta had a passion for spending time with friends and family, talking, and playing cards. Her smile was infectious and touched each person she met. Marietta is survived by her husband, Harold; children, Dennis (Sue) Hagen, Diane Hagen-Zuravle (Dan Altenburg), Donna (Randy) Showers, Debbie (William) Scholfield, David (Betty) Hagen, Edward (Karen) Schrader, Donald Schrader, and Barbara Bullard; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ronald; and brothers, sisters-in-law and brothers- in-law. Funeral services will be held at BURKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5720 Portage Rd., Madison, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Visitation that day will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Margo Martens presiding. A Visitation will also be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Monday, May 5, 2014. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com
