Kenneth McFerren

MCFERREN, KENNETH L. MADISON-Kenneth L. McFerren, age 78, of Madison, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014, following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on July 13, 1935, in Hastings, Neb., the son of Adrian and Helen (Sergeant) McFerren. Ken graduated from Juniata High School in Juniata, Neb., then received his Bachelor’s Degree at Hastings College in Hastings, Neb. He served in the U.S. Army at the time of the Korean War. Ken moved to Madison and worked for IBM. Later he began his own business in data processing and computer programming. Ken enjoyed golf, softball, bowling and loved to sing, especially in the church choir. He was a longtime member of the Breakfast Optimist Club of Madison. Ken is survived by his daughters, Julie (Dennis) Ahnen, Sheryl McFerren and their mother, Sandra Mischke; his son, A.J. (Kara) McFerren and his mother, Linda Mayfield; special friend to Ken, Natalie; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Megan, Cailin, Xander and Quin; his brother, James (Verlene) McFerren; a sister-in-law, Marlys McFerren; and is further survived by a niece; nephews; and many loving cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Roger McFerren. A Memorial Service will be held at ALL SAINTS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2951 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 2 p.m., on Monday, April 28, 2014, with the Rev. Richard Johnson presiding.
