OREGON/FITCHBURG - John Fahey Green, 59, of Oregon, died Friday, April 25, at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by family. He was born to the late James and Ellen Green, Sept. 24, 1954 in Madison. John graduated from Edgewood High School in 1972 and received his bachelor’s degree from UW-Whitewater in 1977.
John was a lifelong Wisconsin sports fan and active in Madison city league sports for many years. He couldn’t wait to stump his friends with his latest trivia question – from sports to music, he knew it all. John’s professional career was spent working in the local food industry where he enjoyed meeting new people and sharing his experiences.
John is survived by his two daughters, Valerie and Lindsay, of Chicago, Illinois and four siblings, Kathleen Woit, Jim (Sue), Sue (Mark) Schulte of Madison, and Todd (Amie) of Brooklyn, New York. A private memorial service will be held in celebration of John’s life. The family would appreciate online condolences be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

John's heart was always in the right place. He would help whenever asked and never expected anything in return. I will miss him dearly along with the many conversations we shared about sports and the personal things going on in our lives. May you rest in peace my friend.

Didn't know John well, but I knew his Mom and Dad. They were wonderful people and I'm sure that John was too. The safest place to be is in one's thoughts, but the best place to be is in the hands of God. I feel confident that John is in God's hands now. My sympathies to the family.
