Marie Ann Hornes

HORNES, MARIE ANN MIDDLETON-Marie Ann Hornes, age 64, of Middleton, WI, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was born on June 2, 1949, in Darlington, WI, the eldest child of the late Clarence and Marjorie Peters. She attended Darlington High School and graduated with a Bachelors degree from Wisconsin State University Platteville. She was united in marriage to Gary John Hornes on October, 20, 1973. She later attended the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee to obtain her Masters degree in Social work and worked at the UW Hospital and Clinics for 19 years before retiring in 2010. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, sewing, knitting, and cake decorating. She is survived by her son James and wife Rebecca of Cottage Grove, MN and grandson Benjamin; step-daughter Dawn and husband Tim Craine of Madison WI; sisters and brothers, Paul (Sandy) Peters of Blairstown, Iowa, Joe Peters of Mount Horeb, WI, Nancy (Alan) Buckardt of Deerfield, IL, Elaine Yonkus of Wauconda, IL, Jean Peters of Darlington, WI, and Ruth (Greg) Stadler of Watertown, WI; and sister-in-law, Ann Hornes of Manitowoc, WI. She is further survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, her adopted family of Racine, WI, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary and parents. Funeral services will be held at ST. ANDREW’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 6815 Schneider Rd., Middleton at 11 AM on Friday, April 25, 2014. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton from 4 PM until 7 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2014 and also on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church.
