Mildred Caroline Strobel

Strobel, Mildred Caroline Mildred Caroline Strobel, age 94, died at home in Madison on Friday, April 25, 2014. She was born in New York, New York, May 19, 1919, to Henry and Anna Horeis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frederick and Norman, her beloved husband of 56 years. Mildred and Norman opened their home and provided loving care and support for all four of their parents. She also worked as a bookkeeper and sales associate. Mildred was a person of deep faith. She was generous to her family, held definitive opinions, made her own choices and lived independently in her apartment home until the end. She is survived by her daughter Crystal Enslin; son-in-law Jon Enslin; grandson Jonathan Enslin, his wife Kay and their sons Jacob, Samuel and Joseph; and grandson Joshua Enslin, his wife Julie and their sons Henry, Charles and George. A funeral service of remembrance and thanksgiving for Mildred’s life will take place at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 3, at the Tree of Life Chapel, Oakwood Village East, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, with Pastor Douglas Locken officiating. Burial will follow at the First German Lutheran Church cemetery, Middleton. We are grateful for the life she lived and the support she received during her almost 14 years as part of the Oakwood community.
