Obituary

Pfuhl, Floyd DEERFIELD-Floyd Pfuhl, age 85, of Deerfield, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at home. He was born on Dec. 19, 1928, in Norwalk, the son of Christ and Esther (Trachsel) Pfuhl. He married Mary Lou (Sletten) Pfuhl in 1958, in Iowa. He served in the US-Navy as Seaman 2nd Class, until 1947. Floyd worked for Firestone for over 30 years as a mechanic. After retirement, Floyd enjoyed working in his yard, often recruiting his grandchildren and offering to pay them “a couple bucks” to help him out. He and Mary Lou also spent much of their time volunteering as camp hosts at Ft. McCoy, Wis., Shell Knob Missouri and Lake Kegonsa State Park in Stoughton, making many memories with family around the campsite. Floyd is survived by his children, Sandy (Keith) Martin, Sue (Earl) Hamm, Sherry Bushey and Bob Pfuhl; grandchildren, Megan, Ashley, Christopher, Krista, Brian, Amber, Tyler and Cheyenne; a great-grandson, Jonathon; his brother, Willard (Linda) Pfuhl; and his sister, Eleanor Buchmann-Stangler. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; his parents; a grandson, Joey Pfuhl; brothers, Ralph and Kenny Pfuhl; and a sister, Myrt Smith. A Celebration of Floyd’s Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m., on Friday, April 25, 2014. My favorite memory of my brother Floyd is how he used to always stick up for me when my other siblings would pick on me and even fibbed to my parents to keep me out of trouble. He was a wonderful, wonderful brother that I was very close to and loved very much. His Sis, Elie
