Obituary

FITCHBURG-Eleanor E. "Tuffy" Schultz, age 92, of Fitchburg, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at All Saints Memory Care surrounded by family members. She was born on March 22, 1922, in Madison, the daughter of Arthur and Thelma (Otis) Lawry. Eleanor married Donald Schultz on Dec. 28, 1945, in Oregon, WI. While Donald "Musky Don" served our country in World War II, Tuffy proudly served our country making shells and sending him letters while waiting for him to come home. She attended school in Oregon and worked at Crescent Lighting for 10 years. Eleanor enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and surrounding herself with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She and Donald loved to camp, travel, bowl, and play cards with friends and family. True to her name, Tuffy taught us values of strength, love, laughter, kindness and "Schultz Power". Eleanor is survived by her children , Jerry (Joan) Schultz of Cross Plains; Gloria (Tom) Swayzee of Middleton; Karen (Dave) McGaw of Oregon; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Don Strassman; siblings, Raymond Lawry of Oregon and Carol Manke of McFarland; along with numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in April 2013; a daughter, Diane Strassman in February 2013; her parents; siblings, Delores (Hank) Gross; Robert (Julie) Lawry; and William “Bud” (Emma) Lawry; a sister-in-law, Donna; a brother-in-law, Parker Manke. Funeral Services will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, with the Rev. Paul Marquart presiding. A luncheon will follow at the church. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. So many fond memories of Eleanor. Our times snowmobiling together. The cruise we took together. Our dinners together and our long chats. Her smile and her great laugh. Of course the sound partnership she and Don had.. May they have many dances together as they meet again. Both Eleanor and Don were so very proud of all of you. Fondly, Carole and Denny Mohr
