Obituary

Mitchell, Mark A. OREGON-Mark A. Mitchell, age 57, of Oregon, passed away on March 20, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on Oct. 14, 1956, in Freeport, Ill., the son of Jay and Maxine (Ortmeier) Mitchell. He married Teri Rosenstiel on April 5, 1986. Mark graduated from Pearl City High School in Pearl City, Ill. He graduated from Illinois State University and began a career in Mortgage Banking. Mark had 3 battles with cancer in his life and faced them all with spirit and determination. Between battles, he lived life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Mark is survived by his wife of 27 years, Teri; daughters, Lauren and Bobbie Mitchell; mother, Maxine; siblings; Doug (Bonnie), Brad (Debbie), Martha Mitchell, Lori (Joel) Kempel and Luann (Perry) Byers; an aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay D. Mitchell. A Memorial Service will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 East Netherwood Street, Oregon, at 4 p.m., on Sunday, March 23, 2014, with Pastor Paul Markquart presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. Memorials may be made to Restoring Hope Transplant House 7457 Terrace Ave, Middleton, WI 53562. The family would like to thank Dr. Walter Longo and staff at UW Hospital and Clinics for all the years of tenacious commitment to Mark’s medical needs throughout the years. Mark was a kind and genuinely nice person. He was a wonderful and understanding manager who you could always talk to and a role model who could calmly and quietly handle stressful situations. I feel lucky to have had him in my life. My deepest condolences to his family, he is truly missed.
