Obituary
Mark P. Sherry, age 64, of Middleton, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving wife, Kathleen Murphy Sherry. Mark was born on March 3, 1950, in Viroqua, Wisconsin, the son of Stanley and Betty Sherry. He married Kathleen Murphy on January 3, 1981, at St. Bernard's Church in Middleton.
Mark was born and raised on a dairy farm in Viroqua and continued to pursue his passion for dairy farming on the home farm for many years.
Mark graduated from Viroqua High School in 1968 where he was also a member of the 4-H and FFA club. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1972. He went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Animal Nutrition at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and graduated in 1976.
He worked for UW-Platteville Agriculture Farm as herdsman manager from 1978-80. He and his brothers developed a business partnership on the home farm in Viroqua for the next 15 years. After moving to Madison, he worked as a cab driver for Union Cab, and served as the steward for conflict resolution for the employees until his retirement in 2006.
His activities and hobbies included being an avid Wisconsin Badger fan and season ticket holder from 1968 to the present. He was a member of the Babcock House Co-op, and served as a Board member for eight years. He loved antique tractors and his pride and joy was his grandfather's 1940 Farmall Model A, which he re-furbished. He loved to travel to Badger Bowl games, and going to antique tractor pulls of which he participated in locally with his Allis Chalmers 180.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen (of 33 years), their dog Snowy, brothers Alan (Jena), Scott (Dawn), nieces Hannah, Sophie, and nephews Sam, Jon, Ben, and Griffin.
