Dolores C. Gerry

MADISON - Dolores "Laurie" Gerry, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on March 31, 1925, the daughter of Rudolph and Margaret Faust. Laurie attended St. Bernards Catholic Grade School and graduated from Madison East High School with the class of 1943. She was very proud to have played on the Kennedy Dairy Milkmaid's Softball Team that won the state championship in 1940. Following high school, Laurie worked at the American Exchange Bank. She was united in marriage to Harold "Bud" Gerry on Sept. 7, 1946. Laurie was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church and the VFW Post No. 7591 Auxillary. She was an avid reader and card player. If there was a euchre game, she was "in". Laurie also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, spending time with her family and cheering on the Badgers, Packers and Cubs. She is survived by her three children, Gena (Mike) Williams, Steve (Sandi) Gerry and Sue (Steven) Nelson; seven grandchildren, Dawn (Joe) Seifert, Dan Williams, Darin Williams, Stefani Gerry, Scott Gerry, Andrew (Emily) Nelson and Audrey (Derrick) Peters; five great-grandchildren, Riley, Jack, Olivia, Violet and Charlie; her sister, Darlene Blankenheim; and brothers, Don (Ann) Faust and Ken (Carol) Faust. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; and brother-in-law, Jeff Blankenheim. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014, with Fr. Randy Timmerman presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014, and at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.
