Helen Joanne Kundert

Kundert, Helen OREGON- Helen Kundert passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Helen had been called many things over the last 80+ years of her life, but her proudest titles were Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Grandma Helen. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandma, who truly enjoyed spending time with her family, but her love didn’t stop there. Helen touched everybody she met with a hug, a word, a gesture, or simply a smile. She worked in food service most of her life and her most rewarding position was her job at Netherwood Knoll Elementary where she worked in the kitchen for many years until very recently due to illness. Helen loved seeing the faces of all the children every day. When told by teachers and parents how much the children enjoy seeing her in the lunch line every day, she always replied, “They bring me way more joy than I could ever give them.” The fact is that Grandma Helen, left a legacy. It might not have been your typical legacy of fame, money or things, but one of caring, compassion, and love. Helen’s legacy will live on through her survivors, her son, Dick (Loretta) Kundert; daughters, Lori (Bob) Bohman, and Karen Weber; grandchildren, Jason (Sally) Kundert, Shawn Bohman, Corey (Rose) Nadeau, Mathew Bohman, Allison Weber, Courtney Weber, Haley Bohman, and Drew Weber; great-grandchildren, Kaeli and Bri Bohman, Abby Nadeau, Collins Kundert; brothers, Mark (Donna) and Mike (Ellen) Snell; her sister, Mary Lou (Bob) Sickels; and many, many nieces and nephews. Helen will meet those who proceeded her in heaven, husband, Kenneth Kundert; mother and father, Irene and Maurice Snell; sisters, Delcie Strait and Virginia Schuh; her brother, Bob Snell; and grandchildren, Lance Kundert and Kelsey Bohman. A Memorial Service celebrating Helen’s life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 7 p.m., with Pastor Fred Schmitt officiating. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Helen took joy in donating books and school supplies for students who might not otherwise be able to afford them. In keeping her passion alive, the family is requesting that in lieu of plants and flowers, contributions be made to the Helen Kundert’s Children-in-Need Fund.
