Obituary
LODI-Bernice Tegner passed from this world on February 9th, at the age of 89. She was born January 17, 1925 in Milwaukee, WI to George and Margaret Altman. Bernice graduated from Baraboo High School in 1942. Bernice moved to Lodi in 1950 and was very active in her community, both as a business owner and volunteer. She loved Lodi and Lake Wisconsin. Bernice and a few of her friends, introduced Girl Scouting to the Lodi area in the 1950's. Bernice was the first woman realtor in Columbia County and established two real estate companies during her career. She loved the business and her clients, most of whom became friends. She often sold multiple properties to the same clients as their needs changed. Bernice married Raymond Tegner Feb. 13, 1968. They enjoyed spending winters in Fort Myers Beach, FL and returning to Lodi and Lake Wisconsin in the summer. They also enjoyed spending time together, whether it was painting, square dancing, shelling on the beach or just enjoying the lake view. She volunteered as a docent at the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum on Sanibel Island, and had an amazing collection of shells of her own. Bernice loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bernice is survived by her husband, Ray Tegner, daughters, Judith (Thomas) Williams and her husband John of Cape San Blas, FL, Karen (Thomas) Smith and her husband, Jim of Orlando, FL, and Linda (Tegner) Balde and her husband Robert of Goes, Holland. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Sean (Erica) Williams, Stuart Williams, Kristin (Smith) Haag, Brad (Jennifer) Smith, Sara Balde, Noel Balde, Rebecca (Balde) Van Dijk and her husband, Eus, and 10 great grandchildren. Chris and I are saddened to hear of Bernice's passing. Bernice was one of the first people I met in Lodi after Chris and I were married. She always seemed to be enjoying what she was doing and she helped me tremendously when I started helping with real estate transactions at Ryan Law Office. We purchased our first house through Bernice. Know that you are all in our thoughts.

I am saddened to hear of Bernice's passing. It becomes difficult when so much of your youthful memories contain such a vibrant personality. Later Bernice and Ray became a connection to the community I grew up in. I was always so appreciative of their welcome when I would arrive so unexpectedly.
My husband and I send our sincerest sympathies at a time when there really are very little words to cover the hole that will be left for Ray and the family. We hope it will help when we say we understand.

My condolences to Ray and family. Every time I walk by Avenida Pescadora , here on Ft Myers Beach I remember how Bernice and Ray talked my parents in to trying Ft Myers Beach during the winter rather than Ft Lauderdale where the family had been going for many years. My folks loved it here, and now I consider it to be my part-time winter home. Thank you Bernice and Ray.

Please accept our deepest heartfelt sympathy. I send my condolences to you Ray and family. Every time I think of you two I smile and all the good times we had at square dancing. You and Bernice were and are special to me. Please know that my thoughts are with you and yours from down here in North Carolina.

Dear Karen and Judy, thank you for sharing your mama with me as a Lodi Girl Scout! My Mom was one of her fellow scout leaders in Lodi and Mom went home to be with the Lord Nov. 1. We were blessed weren't we! You are in my prayers for comfort. Phyllis Puckett Schiltz
