Ciara Rose Hanko

MCFARLAND/WHITEWATER-Ciara R. Hanko, age 24, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from complications with Leukemia. She was born on July 22, 1989, the daughter of Ron and Kim (Fillner) Hanko. Ciara graduated from McFarland High School in 2007 and then attended UW Whitewater. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business and was working towards her Master’s Degree in Accounting. While at UW Whitewater, Ciara was active in the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She was a focused student and a hard worker. Ciara was a Brewers fan and enjoyed all the Warhawk Sports at UW Whitewater. She is survived by her parents, Ron and Kim Hanko; a sister, Savanna Hanko; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Donna Fillner; paternal grandparents, Sid and Pat Hanko; uncles, Scott (Kris) Fillner, Bob (Kerry) Hanko, Rich (Rita) Hanko and Roger (Karen) Hanko; her special cat, Leni; and many loving cousins and great friends, especially Bob Di Loreto, Sherry Swanton and Barb Renda. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Kevin Fillner, whom Ciara was ready to see again. Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, with the Rev. Jeff Vanden Heuvel presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
