Obituary

SUN PRAIRIE/TEMECULA, CA – Maureen (Strand) Syverud, age 77, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Feb. 25, 2014, in Madison. She was born on Sept. 4, 1936, in Madison, the daughter of Herbert and Myrtle (Boness) Strand. She married Jerome Syverud on April 16, 1955, in Madison at Central Lutheran Church. Maureen graduated from Central High School in 1954. She retired from American Family Insurance after 30 years as a supervisor. She liked to play bingo and was an avid sports fan. Maureen enjoyed watching soap operas and game shows. She had a positive outlook and loved her family dearly. Maureen is survived by her husband, Jerome; children, Teresa (Scott) Drew, Debbie (Randall) Rossi, Steve Syverud, Lisa (Alan) Maslowski and Lori (Mark) Campanella; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Gary (Diana) Strand. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Thomas Briggs; and brothers, Herbert and James. Funeral services will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5701 Raymond Rd, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service on Monday. Maureen’s positive outlook was an example for all whose lives she touched.
