Obituary

Christianson, Arlo J. STOUGHTON-Arlo J. Christianson, age 88, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at his home at Harmony Living Center, with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 4, 1925, in Deerfield, the son of Irvin and Lydia (Furseth) Christianson. He was united in marriage to Lucille Hehn on June 10, 1950. They resided in Madison in a home built by Arlo and they were blessed with three children. They moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri in 1986, returning to Wisconsin in 2006. Arlo worked for Robertson, Briggs & Fore Seasons Transportation Company. While in Lake of the Ozarks they were members of Kent Memorial Church in Laurie, MO. Upon returning to Wisconsin they became members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oregon. When Arlo retired he built their retirement home in Lake of the Ozarks. In order to get homeowners insurance, they needed a fire department, so Arlo and his neighbors started a Volunteer Fire Department for the Lake Road 7-9 Area. Arlo enjoyed carpentry, and after completing his retirement home, he built one for a neighbor. He was also the neighborhood handyman and loved to do “Secret Santa” fix-ups for the weekenders while they were away. Arlo also loved fishing and spending time out on his boat. Arlo is survived by his son, Dale (Jan) Christianson; daughters, Debra (Terry) Sumwalt and Kathy (Ken) Friday; grandchildren, Sheli (Mark) Asleson, Heather (Gary) Wieble, Travis (Dawn) Christianson, Spencer Christianson, Tom (Jen) Sumwalt, Stacy (Ben) Shever, Kaiser Christianson, and Mallory Christianson; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille; two sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Hwy. 51, Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 with Chaplain Thomas Moe presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
