Obituary

Etta Jane Winn Lorenz left this life on Wednesday, January 8, 2014. She was born in Madison in 1926 to Dr. Henry N. Winn and Ada M. Chase Winn, and along with her sisters and brother enjoyed growing up near Vilas Zoo and up north at the family cabin in Iron County. Etta graduated from West High School and attended the UW before marring Joseph D. Lorenz to begin her life as a navy wife and mother. Sons David (Lyn Young) of Lake Wisconsin and Robert of Poynette survive her along with brother, Robert (Lorna) Winn of Sister Bay. Etta also leaves behind her loving nieces and nephews, a close special niece nurse Kim Lucas, and dear friend Kelly Sumner. Her parents, husband, and sisters Alyce Anderson and Janet Lucas preceded her, as well as several nephews. Always reading and learning, Etta achieved and associate degree in medical records at MATC later in her life, honoring her father’s dedication as a doctor. She lived her life with a light and lovely touch on every single thing, and we are far better for her having been with us. She will be deeply missed. With respect for her final wishes, no service will be held. The family sincerely thanks those at Our House assisted living and the Good Samaritan Society for their kindness towards Etta the past few months.

Hello to the Lorenz family from your long ago backyard neighbors (you on Eton Ridge, us on Hollister) - God bless your Mother as she rests in peace. Fond childhood memories remain of sharing backyards, Freckles, your cool fort, yard games and "Sneetzy"..... Peggy Endres
