FLUCKIGER, BEVERLY A.
MADISON-Beverly A. Fluckiger, age 70, a lifelong eastside resident, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014. She was born on Sept. 16, 1943, in Madison, the daughter of Ernest and Eileen (Tierney) Schmitz. Beverly attended Lakewood School and graduated from Edgewood in 1961. She received her B.S. in 1965 from U.W. Madison. Education was very important to Beverly; she worked for the Madison School District at Schenk/Whitehorse Middle School for 36 years. She loved traveling, spending time with her grandchildren, coffee time with friends and was an avid reader. Beverly spoke to grade school kids about organ donation. She is survived by her husband, Dennis; children, Jennifer Macheel, Jeffrey (Melissa) Fluckiger, Jeri (Arnie) Theis and Kris (Cindy) Fluckiger; six grandchildren, Madilynn, Wyatt, Jacilynn, Joey, Nick and Lindy; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Thomas Schmitz. Funeral Services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014 and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made to the U.W. Transplant Center. A special thanks to the U.W. Transplant Team, Palliative Care Unit, Wisconsin Dialysis Center and Heartland Hospice for all of their care and support. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

This is one teacher who left a life long impact on most people's lives. She taught a lot and she surely didn't take a lot from her students. But meant well for all the students she taught. Prayers to the whole Fluckinger Family. May she rest in peace and you all find strength through the grieving processes.

Bev was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and friend to my parents. I had the pleasure of babysitting her children and watching them grow up. Whenever I returned to Madison for a visit, they would stop by, or have me up to see one of their new additions. She had a marvelous attitude when recovering from her lung transplant and kept my Mother's attitude up during her battle with breast cancer sending her funny cards from "a secret admireor". She called my parents every day to check on them and continued to after my Father passed away. She was always there for my folks. She will be greatly missed by our entire family. Much love and condolences to you all!!!
