Obituary
MONONA-John Wesley Dvorak, age 72, died unexpectedly at St. Mary’s Hospital on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013. John was born in New Lisbon on May 5, 1941, to Robert S. and Vera L. (Hansen) Dvorak. He moved to Madison in 1960, and met the love of his life, Carol K. Colwill and they were married on Oct. 20, 1962. John was employed for several years with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, then retired in 2003, from DEC International after 41 years with the Dairy Equipment and SaniMatic divisions. In his retirement, he worked part-time for ADS Mechanical. John was an incredibly selfless and tireless volunteer. He was a Boy Scout leader of Pack 11, served on the Board of Trustees and was on many committees at Bashford United Methodist Church where he was a member for over 50 years. One of his passions was drum and bugle corps. He volunteered for several drum corps including Madison Junior Scouts, Madison Scouts, Southwind of Lexington, KY. and Blue Stars of LaCrosse. He served on the Board of Directors for Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. One of his proudest moments was receiving the Drum Corps International Volunteer of the Year Award in 1999. John enjoyed life fully through traveling, bicycling, reading, trap shooting, and attending car shows in his 1929 Model A Ford. He was very proud of his Model A hot rod that he and his son built. He was a member of the Stoughton Conservation Club, Road Apples Car Club of Sun Prairie, and Minnesota Street Rod Association.
John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol; daughter, Shari of Madison; son, Mark of Sun Prairie; sisters, Elaine (Ronald) Larson of Tomahawk, Sonja (Gary) Smith of New Lisbon, and Theresa (Scott) Taylor of Ontario; brother, Glenn (Sandra) of New Lisbon; sister-in-law, Karen (Richard) Laufenberg of Windsor; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and infant sister, Jennie.

We had so much fun with John through the years, he was always laughing and having a great time with everyone. He loved going to shows with his car club and genuinely cared about everyone around him. John would do anything for anyone, he had the biggest heart . He will be missed very, very much - I'm sad we didn't have a chance to say goodbye, but know he's in a much better place having a grand time with those that have passed before him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family - car shows & cruise nights won't be the same without him. Godspeed John, we are blessed to have known you.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to you. I know the pain of a broken heart. Our Heavenly Father feels our pain. Psalms 34:18 assures us that He is near to those broken at heart. He does, however, hold out a promise that in the very near future He will wipe out all tears of sorrow and pain from our eyes and death will be no more. (Revelation 21:3-5) He also promises to remember all those in the memorial tombs (graves) and restore them to life. (John 5:28,29) Until those words are fulfilled, may you find much peace and comfort in God and in His promises found in the Holy Scriptures.

To Carol and the entire Dvorak family
I wish to send my deepest condolences to your family. I was devastated to see that in the paper. I just saw him recently getting a tire fixed. John has been a favorite in our shop for so many years I can't even remember. But he would always come bopping in with some tire problem. He would cheer up everybody here with his smile and unending positive attitude about everything. He will be truly missed here. Please know you all are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

I am devastated to learn of the passing of my good friend John. We will miss his smile and positive
attitude. John never failed to amuse me with his wit and candor. It was a joy to work with him for several years at American Trailer Sales Inc. John never met a task that he couldn't handle. He always got the job done right. John you bailed me out of countless jams and I know that you know that was highly appreciated. We lost a good man yesterday but a little piece of John will remain with all that had the pleasure of knowing him. The countless hours he put in as a volunteer will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts and prayers are now with Carol and the kids at this most difficult time. John gave of himself all that he could and I'm sure that he is smiling down on us at this moment. You showed us the way and we are all that much better for having known you. Farewell my Friend.....

Carol, Mark & Shari,
Terry and I were saddened to hear of John's passing. You are all in our thoughts and prayers as you get through the coming holiday season without your beloved husband and father. We are in Arizona at this time so can't attend the visitation or funeral, but you will all be in our thoughts. Take care and God Bles you all.
