Hohlstein, Stephen MADISON – Stephen Hohlstein, age 59, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at home. Steve was born on Nov. 6, 1954, the son of Viola and Arthur Hohlstein. He was raised in the Hawthorne Park Neighborhood in Madison and graduated from Madison East High School in 1972. Steve also attended Madison Area Technical College. He worked at Madison Kipp for 37 years and was proud to be an “Eastsider.” Steve’s hobbies were going to car shows, swap meets, flea markets and spent many hours restoring tractors. He was an avid sportsman and was known for his great sense of humor. Steve is survived by a brother, Marv Hohlstein; sister-in-law, Pat Hohlstein; nieces and nephews, Ron Hohlstein, Gregg Hohlstein, Mark (Rebecca) Hohlstein, Jim Hohlstein, Karen (Ron) Guthrie, Cathy Hilsenhoff, Tom Hohlstein, Chris (Lisa) Hohlstein and Timothy (Laura) Hohlstein; grand-nieces and nephews, Curtis Finberg, Nikki and Erin Hilsenhoff and Alex and Tyler Hohlstein. He was preceded in death by his parents; Arthur Sr. and Viola (Kempfer) Hohlstein; brothers, Carl and Art Jr., and sisters-in-law, Helen Hohlstein, Barb Hohlstein. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at Noon on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, with Pastor Sandra Schieble presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Steve was well known by many and lit up the room with his smile. Sorry for your loss, Steve was my first cousin 1x removed. His parents being my grand aunt and uncle. Much too young.
