Obituary
MENOMINEE, MI-Marion Leone Mineau, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, due to natural causes. She was born on May 6, 1919, in Marinette to Charles and Mary Norman, of Menominee, Mich. Marion was a proud graduate of Bellin Hospital School of Nursing of Green Bay in 1940. She married Elmer X. Mineau on Oct. 12, 1940. Marion and her family were long time members of Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay. She devotedly raised six children, and was able to enjoy summers at her childhood home, “The Cottage”, on the Bay with them. The cottage has served as “Anchor” for the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren each summer. Mid July was the extended family picnic time at cottage with up to 80 persons in attendance. Marion was a loving mother who delighted in sharing her cottage home with others. Everyone was welcomed. Cooperation, tolerance, and goodwill was expected. Marion enjoyed remembering others birthdays and anniversaries with cards and continued this ministry into her 90’s, and enjoyed the monthly luncheon of the Bellin Allumni. She is survived by her children, Arline Lichtfeld of Monona, Roger (Cindy) Mineau of Green Bay, Robert (Peggy) Mineau of Little Suamico, Carol (Greg) Pauson of Daggett, Mich., and Brian (Nancy) Mineau of Green Bay; daughter-in-law, Mildred Mineau of Forrest Lake, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and close family friends, Dan and Alan (Bud). Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Norman; husband, Elmer; son, Norman Mineau; sisters, Violet Pawlowski and Alrine Mix; and Doris and Frank Bartel. Private family services will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She was my mother's faithful friend visiting her and sending her cards until the time she passed away. I'll always remember her "recycled cards". A very pleasant lady indeed. You were blessed to have her as a mother.

I read of your mother's death in the Menominee/Marinette Eagle Herald and wanted to post my condolences. My parents were childhood friends of your mother and attended Hayward Bay one room school with her. My mother, Anne Schuster Anderson, always looked forward to seeing Marion each summer when she'd return to Cedar River.

I was so saddened to read about the loss of your dear mother. She had been a high school classmate of my mother ( Charlotte King) and came for visits ( after the Bellin luncheon) when my mother was residing with me in Green Bay. We both looked forward to seeing her.
I know how blest many of us are to have our mothers most of our adult lives. They teach us so much, but not how to live without them. She lived a long and full life and leaves you with beautiful memories which will be a source of solace.
This quote from Tagore was a comfort to me as I hope will be to all of you~
"Death is not extinguishing the light;
it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come."
It is my prayer that your mother is now experiencing the most beautiful dawns of her life.
With heartfelt sympathy to you all,

Our sympathy and condolences to the Mineau children and family. I worked with Elmer at the Green Bay Mill where I was assigned to the Pulp Mill as the Maintenance Engineer. Elmer was the maintenance Working Foreman and we worked very closely together and became good friends. Elmer invited my wife and I to stop in at their cottage on the bay which we did. This is when we first met your mother. She made us feel welcome and was very gracious and friendly. We had a special visit that we still recall with smiles. That same September Marion and Elmer stopped at our home in Menominee township where we retired. We had purchased an 80 acre non-working farm and built it into a retirement home. The property included an apple orchard and we picked apples together and had a great visit.We sent them home with plenty of the big Wolf River apples which they really liked. My wife and I feel great full that we knew your folks and became good friends. Again, you have our sympathy and we will always remember your folks with kindness. Regards, Jim and Esther Fox
