Clyde Raymond Richards, Jr.

MADISON-Clyde Raymond Richards Jr., age 88, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare. He was born on April 14, 1925, to Clyde R. Sr. and Lilla (Pettitt) Richards at Blackwall, Texas Clyde attended public schools there, and after high school entered the U.S. Army Air Corp in October, 1943, and served with the 8th Air Force in England, being discharged in April 1946. He was married on Aug. 2, 1945, to Inez M. Severson. She preceded him in death in June, 2002. In October, 1948, he entered employment with the City of Madison as a Fire and Police Alarm Electrician, and after creation of the Madison Traffic Engineering Department he transferred and continued to work until retirement in 1987. Clyde was a life member of the VFW Marion Cranfield Post 1318. He was also a 33rd Degree Mason, belonging to Madison Lodge #5 F&AM where he was a past Master and Four Lakes Daylight #362 F&AM. He was a member of Madison York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite Bodies, Royal Order of Scotland, Red Cross of Constantine, DeMolay Legion of Honor and other Masonic Affiliations. Clyde is survived by his three daughters, two in northern Virginia and one in Madison. He was further preceded in death by his sisters, Myrl (J.R.) Thompson and Dorothy (Joe) Gaona. A Memorial Service will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5701 Raymond Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Rd., Fitchburg, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, with a Masonic Service beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
