Howard E. Padley

PADLEY, HOWARD LODI-Howard Padley, 85 years young, died on May 31, 2014. He was born May 9, 1929, the son of Wayne and Sadie Padley of Lodi, Wisconsin. Howard was a 1947 graduate of Lodi High School and attended Madison’s Vocational and Adult School where he completed the required training in Carpentry as an apprentice with Madsen Construction. Howard moved from carpentry to General Field Superintendent to General Manager while working with Madsen Construction and then as a co-owner of Madsen’s subsidiary, CS& S. Howard decided to make the move to entrepreneur and entered into a partnership with Bryan McGann and co-founded Padley-McGann Construction in 1988. Howard remained with Padley-McGann Construction until his retirement in 1994. In November of 1993 he was awarded Honorary Membership in the Wisconsin Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America, Inc. Howard was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn Thompson Padley and daughters, Caryn Haag and Marlene Fitzgerald. He is survived by his second wife, Alice Lee Padley; his son Bruce (Sue) Padley of Oregon, WI; one brother, Richard (Joan) Padley; son-in-law, Brent (Amy) Fitzgerald of Lodi, WI; nine grandchildren, Callie (Chris) Laue, Cyle (Peggy) Haag, Curt Haag, Cylene Padley, Corey and Coleman Fitzgerald, Cassandra (Chris) Mueller, Sara and Jake Padley; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Howard loved hunting and fishing in Canada with family and friends, was an avid Wisconsin Badgers’ fan and enjoyed a good round of golf. He was a member of the Baraboo Elks Lodge, the Crescent Valley Masonic Lodge No. 0097 in Black Earth, WI, the Mendota Club and the Lodi Golf Club. He was a kind, generous, and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be sorely missed by his immediate and extended families, friends, and loved ones. A Memorial Service will be held at LODI UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 130 Locust St., Lodi, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 with Reverend Marjorie Rice Myers presiding. Inurnment will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the HAMRE GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 157 S. Main St., Lodi, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
