Obituary

Margaret Rose (Acker) Pierce 1932-2013 was born into a family of two older brothers, three older sisters and one younger sister. Margaret grew up in rural Ashton, Wisconsin, where they walked to school and in a blizzard got a ride from a neighbor in a sleigh. Anton, her father passed away while she was quite young, but her oldest brother took care of the farm with her mother Tilly. They moved to Middleton where she finished high school, and also worked at the theatre, where she developed a lifelong love for old sentimental movies. She worked for an attorney as a receptionist and secretary, and later for the farm bureau, where she caught the attention of her future husband Ron, at the drinking fountain. They travelled with Ron’s employment and had three children in an ideal home. Later residing in Illinois, Maggie was an ideal companion for Ron with a great sense of humor enjoying their friends with bridge, bowling and golf. She was quite a homemaker, in an age when homemade meant good. Margaret was a servant to all and served on the welcome wagon, food pantry plus various charity causes including three medical research societies and especially active and supportive of the National Right to Life. Had she lived another day she would have been a great-grandmother and was blessed by the prospect and filled with pride. She has left a legacy of her wise words and deeds to her son Chuck and daughter-in-law Linda Pierce; her caretaking daughter Ronna Buck and grandkids, Emily, Samantha and Michael. She joins her eldest and accomplished son Jon, her husband, and some of her family in the life hereafter, where, by request she will be singing in the most exquisite manner. Her sage advice: “you have to laugh at yourself” and “ you never know what may be troubling ill-mannered people”.
