Obituary
ALBANY -John L. Dalberg, age 78, of Albany, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at his home after several years courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 16, 1935, in Richland Center, to Leo and Thelma (Mick) Dahlberg. John enlisted in the US Army at the age 16, and served from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. John was a capable and accomplished man of many talents, yet a more humble man than you would have ever known. Also, owned his own body shop and filling station, and for many years he was known as Captain Jack as he sailed a corporate yacht with his wife Helen as First Mate. He also enjoyed scuba diving, spear fishing and hunting antelope. Closer to retirement John enjoyed carpentry. On July 7, 1999, John married Patricia Rohde (Helwig) at The Little Brown Church in the Vale. They met at ballroom dance class and had many interests in common. They enjoyed gardening, their horses, and watching the Packers, Badgers and Matt Kenseth racing, along with their beloved dog Peaches.
John is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Julie Kasper, and her mother, Helen, of Champaign, Il.; granddaughter, Sarah Dalberg; grandson, Tony Kasper; two brothers, Joe and James; two sisters, JoAnne(Bill) Miller and Judy (Robert) Brzezinski; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son; and brother, Jerry.
A private memorial will be held. Special thanks to Dr. Hegeman, and staff at Monroe Clinic, and Monroe Clinic Hospice for all their compassionate care and support.

Uncle Jack, as I knew him as a child, was the hot uncle. The most handsome and kind, quiet man. He will be missed. Karla Walter, daughter of Joanne and William Miller.. Posted by Karla Walter on October 11 at 12:06PM CST

Pat, you know my heart breaks for you. We've been friends since grade school and our lives have intersected so many times. We married in the same year and I feel so bad that the love of your life is no longer by your side. What an interesting man......loving memories will forever keep those we hold dear close in heart. Life goes on as I had to learn as well, but our loved ones are NEVER forgotten. With deepest sympathy and I pray the Lord will give you the peace and strength you will need in the days ahead. I'm always here for you..... Hugs, Monica. Posted by Monica on October 11 at 03:22 PM CST

Judy and I got to know Pat and John through the condos that that John helped build. We only knew him for a few years but he told us about his various and interesting professions. He never bragged about himself but told his stories with humor and humility. John never put up a front. He was confident and satisfied with the person that he was. John was a friend to everyone he met and everyone felt privileged to know him and be his friend. A man can't ask for a greater memorial than that. Ron & Judy

My heart goes out to Pat. To loose such a wonderful husband, friend, and I am sure so much more is just so difficult. Please keep those happy memories and know that John loved you so much. It was clear how he wanted to make sure his wife was happy and taken care of. He touched my heart and life too. My thoughts and prayers are with you Pat. Peace be with John and his family. With love, George & Anna
