Obituary

MADISON- Philip J. Grosse, age 59, of Madison, passed away far too soon following a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, Oct 21, 2013. He was born on July 6, 1954, in Madison, the son of Vernon and Alice (Hart) Grosse. Phil was a graduate of LaFollette High School. He was employed at Famous Footwear for more than 22 years before his illness forced retirement. Philip enjoyed restoring antique cars, watching all sports, and listening to a variety of music. Philip is survived by his parents of Cottage Grove; and siblings, Joan (Dale) Huston of Cottage Grove, Diane Gilbert of Sun Prairie, Kathleen (Mike) Grosse of Cottage Grove, John (Donna) Grosse of Madison, Mary Smolarek of Cottage Grove, and Jeffrey Grosse of Madison. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held at ST PATRICK’S CHURCH with Father Michael Tarigopula presiding. The family of Philip Grosse would like to thank the staffs of Haacks Tendercare, St. Mary’s Hospital, Nazareth Care Center and Agrace HospiceCare for the love, care, compassion and understanding that were provided to Phil. We were sorry to here about Philip passing .It's been forty years or so since last time I'd seen Philip, but I still remember some of the times we had at Grampa and Gramma's home at Sandusky, I'm sure the Fry kids from up the road still do . To our friends - The Grosse Family, We are so sorry to hear of Philips death. He is in our mind and hearts with prayers. We remember the 'good old days' on Wheeler Rd and the fun times we had sledding, searching in the corn field, walking to Sanderson School and numerous fun times together as youngsters. Although we have not seen Philip for many years, we are deeply saddened. May you find peace in your many memories and love for Philip. Please let us know if there is anything we can do.
