Obituary

PORTAGE/MADISON-Marjorie Anne (Larsen) Coyle, age 89, formerly of Madison, passed away peacefully at home in Portage with family by her side on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013. She was just four days shy of her 90th birthday. Marge was born on Oct. 19, 1923, in Superior, the daughter of Birger and Anna (McManus) Larsen. She graduated from Central High School in Superior and later The College of St. Scholastica (St. Mary's School of Nursing) in Duluth, Minn. Marge married Kenneth Coyle on April 15, 1950, at St. James Catholic Church in Madison and together they shared almost 62 years. She was a registered nurse for many years and retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital, Madison, in 1983. Marge enjoyed reading, shopping, listening to music, and baking for family and friends. She also kept up with politics, the economy, and other current events by religiously viewing the daily news. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife and caregiver to her husband in his later years. Marge is survived by her children, Beth Rogers, Greg (Jane), Tom, Mary Jo (Jim) Hilles, Lauri (Jim) Zander, and Dan (Susan); eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Zuchowski and Lois (Ray) Flanagan; brother, Donald Larsen; and many nieces, nephews, several cousins, and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken in 2012; her son, Duffy in 2006; her parents; her brother, Ray; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A Celebration of Marge's Life will be held at ST. MARY’S OF PINE BLUFF CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3673 County Hwy P, Cross Plains, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013. To honor Marge's longtime commitment and nursing care to our Veterans, donations would be appreciated to the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), PO Box 758541,Topeka, KS 66675-8541; Attention: The Marjorie A. Coyle Memorial. The family would like to thank Father Gary of St. Mary's in Portage. Your visit with Mom and your prayers brought her great comfort and peace. In addition, our thanks to the Home Health United (Portage) staff for their recent care and support. Marge was a loving and caring wife and mother, cherished grandmother, and a wonderful friend. She will be remembered for her compassion, kindness, and great sense of humor. Marge was dearly loved and will be truly missed by all.
