Selma Marie Vranek

Richland Center- Selma Marie Dalberg Rinehart Vranek, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at the Richland Hospital. She was born on April 29, 1922 in the Township of Richwood, the daughter of Oscar and Bertha (Cunningham) Dalberg. Selma married the late Duane Rinehart on June 18, 1943 in Viola. She later married Ken Vranek on June 11, 1977 in Richland Center. She attended the Richland County Normal, later working as a school teacher. Selma then worked as a C.N.A. at the Richland County Hospital and Home (now Pine Valley Manor). Selma enjoyed bowling, playing cards, dancing and playing the organ. She was also a foster mother for several years. Selma is survived by her five children, Diane (Jim Haight) Christensen of Fitchburg, Richard (Jan) Rinehart of Madison, Dean (Lori) Rinehart of Lone Rock, Deb (Al) Walling of Richland Center, Jon (Mary) Rinehart of Onalaska; ten grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a special friend, Liilian Cockroft and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken; three brothers, William, Francis, and Virgil; three sisters, Harriet, Bessie and Kathryn. Funeral services will be held at PEACE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 265 N. Church St. Richland Center, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, with Pastor Bill Busch and Pastor Barbara S. Miller presiding. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the church, and also from noon until the time of service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be held at the Richland Methodist Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Pine Valley Foundation.
