Obituary
Madison – Ronald Martin Gotsche Jensen, age 90, died peacefully at home on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013. Ronald was born Aug. 25, 1923 in Grand Falls"New Denmark", New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Rev. John M. and Ragnhild (Gotsche) Jensen. Ron lived in New Brunswick and Montreal, Quebec, Canada until he was in high school when his family moved to Spencer, Iowa.
Ron was involved in basketball, football, baseball and tennis in his younger years as well as being an avid ice skater. Later he enjoyed golfing and continued to play tennis well into his 70’s.
He married Frances Arlene Nelsen on September 14,1946 in Westbrook, Maine. They would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year. Arlene and Ron had 3 daughters and shared a wonderful life together.
Ron was a Lutheran Minister serving parishes in Reserve, Montana, Calendar, Iowa and Eau Claire. He did clinical pastoral training in St. Paul, and served parishes in Ortonville and New London, Minn. He returned to studying in the 80’s and received his doctorate in psychology. Ron spent many years counseling in the Chicago Area with Heinz Veterans Hospital and in private practice.
Ron is survived by his wife Arlene; daughters, Anne (Henry Robinson) Jensen, Palo Alto, Calif, Lois (John) Jacobsen, Madison and Kathleen (Randy) Gee, Berkeley, Calif.; and grandchildren, Nathan and Daniel Jacobsen, Madison, Robyn Gee, Berkeley, Calif.,Emily Gee, Chicago, Ill. and Nicolas Robinson, Chicago, Ill. Ron is further survived by his sister, Margaret Rasmussen, Lombard, Ill.; and his brother Fred (Bev) Jensen, Wilmar, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his aunts, Ingeborg, Agnes and Else Gotsche, brother-in-law, Bjarne Rasmussen, sister-in-law, Janice Nygaard Jensen and niece, Marcia (Jensen) Hudak.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at 12 noon at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5701 Raymond Rd., Madison, 53711. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.
The family would like to thank the wonderful team from Agrace HospiceCare , as well as “Jodie’s staff”, Dr. Shiffler and friends and family who visited in his last days.
