Sylvia Mary Ulma

MADISON-Mom, 86, went home to meet her Lord Jesus, Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born April 18, 1927, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Alois and Sophie Martynski. Sylvia married her longtime sweetheart, Ervin Ulma, on April 18, 1953. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1966. Sylvia was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Parish at St. Joseph Church. She loved Jesus and the beauty of his creation; she enjoyed singing, writing songs and poems, and drawing. Sylvia spent years collecting and packaging donations to be sent to the poor around the world. Sylvia is survived by her children, David, Janie, Debbie, Holly (Jef) Sutton, Danny (Kay), Becky (Chris) Jahn, and Jonathan (Barb); nine grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; sister, Jane (Gerry) Donatz; sisters-in-law, Elaine Wozniak, Marilyn Martynski, and Laurie (John) Diaz de Leon; brother-in-law, Art (Rose) Ulma; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from Noon until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison. A Celebration of Sylvia’s Life will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at 4154 Lookout Trail, McFarland, on Tuesday.
