Obituary
COLUMBUS/MADISON – Robert E. Reinfried, age 64, of Columbus, formerly of Madison, passed away on Monday, Sept. 16, 2013, at his home. He was born on Aug. 25, 1949, in Madison, the son of William and Kathleen (Sweeney) Reinfried. Bob married Maureen Christianson on Aug. 9, 1974, in Madison. He was a graduate of James Madison Memorial High School, attended UW Platteville, and received an Associate Degree from MATC. He was employed at American Family Insurance as a computer service technician. Bob enjoyed music, playing drums, rollercoasters, classic movies, comedy, reading, cooking, sports, and most of all his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Maureen of Columbus; daughter, Erika (Joseph) Mitchen of Austin, Texas; son, Derek (Jennifer) Reinfried of Madison; grandson, Mason Edward Mitchen; mother, Kathleen Ganshert of Middleton; sister, Carole (Kenneth) Barnhart of Astoria, Ore.; parents-in-law, Earl and Geraldine Christianson of Racine; brothers-in-law, Kevin (Lisa) Christianson and Tim Christianson; sister-in-law, Jeanne Meyer; stepbrothers David (Mary) Ganshert and Paul (Betsy) Ganshert; stepsister Julie (Rich) Selin; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and his rescue dog Emmie. Bob was preceded in death by his father William; stepfather Peter Ganshert; and his dog Bucky. A private celebration of Bob’s life occurred with close family. Bob was an organ donor recipient and we, his family, thank his donor and the donor’s family for the additional time Bob had to share with us due to their selfless gift. We also thank the caring and talented health care professionals at the UW-Hospital who took outstanding care of Bob during his hospital stays. Memorials in Bob’s honor can be made to the UW Health Transplant or Organ Donation Program- Organ Donation Education Fund or the River Run Dog Park operated by Columbus Countryside Veterinary Clinic.
“I expect to pass through life but once If therefore, there can be any kindness I can show or any good thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again.”—William Penn

Dear Maureen:
We were saddened to hear of Bob's passing. The quote is a good one--Bob tread lightly on this earth, always sharing a good story with never a hint of ill-will towards anyone. We have wonderful memories of get-togethers in Crestwood and on North Avenue--laughting, joking, and making "a joyful noise" until the wee hours of the morning.
Here is hoping that a more beautiful day dawns for you soon.
