Obituary

FITCHBURG/ENGLAND-Jeremy C. Wright, age 72, of Fitchburg, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013. Born in the spring of 1941, Jeremy Wright met his father four years later, when he returned from service at the end of the Second World War. Together with his mom, a teacher with a gift for storytelling, the small family lived happily in Beckbury, England. Jeremy excelled at school, and, while doing graduate work in physics, he was invited to do research as part of the British Antarctic Survey. He lived on the base in Halley Bay for two years, returning to England in 1966 to complete his Ph.D. In 1967, he met Shirley Richardson, and in 1968 they married. For the next seven years, they lived in Lymm, Cheshire, where they had two boys, Stephen, born in 1971, and David, born in 1974. In 1977, with a job for Nicolet Instruments, the family of four moved to the United States and settled in Madison. Jeremy continued to travel the world throughout a career that included the businesses of sales and marketing of technical instrumentation and international distribution for biotech companies. He lived in Madison for the remainder of his life, but despite naturalizing as a U.S. citizen, his heart and mind remained forever English. Jeremy died as a result of complications due to lung/brain cancer. He is survived by his wife of more than 45 years, Shirley; and his two sons and their families. Jeremy is remembered for his dry sense of humor, for his remarkable kindness, and for his joy, both in what he took from life and what he gave to those who knew him. He is remembered foremost for his love, as a husband, a father, and a grandfather. We love you, Dad/Jem/Grandad Private services will be held. Memorials may be made to UW Carbone Cancer Center. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Private services will be held. Gunderson Fitchburg Funeral & Cremation Care 2950 Chapel Valley Road (608) 442-5002

Jeremy was a towering personality and yet warm and kind. He was always encouraging and wished the best for the company and employees. He would bring his wide ranging experience and wealth of knowledge to help us. At a personal level he was very approachable and very encouraging. He would be sorely missed by me. My sincere condolences to Shirley and the rest of the family.
