Elaine Leytem

SUN PRAIRIE-Elaine J. Leytem, age 88, passed away peacefully just as she lived her life on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013. She was born on Aug. 27, 1925, in Dane County, the daughter of Edward and Berthie (Ihland) Legrey. Elaine was united in marriage to Donald Leytem on Feb. 15, 1958, in Madison. She was a retired civil service employee, who worked for the U.S. Army for 28 years in the cities of Minneapolis, Minn., and Colorado Springs, Colo. Elaine and Don enjoyed travelling, especially their trips to Norway and Denmark. Elaine was a loving woman with a strong faith who loved her family. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Frank Skonie; nephews, Greg (Maureen) Skonie, and Jon Skonie; nieces, Pam (Rick) Anderson, Cindy (Dave) Pittman, and Beth Stofflet; many great-nephews and great-nieces; loving family and friends; and extended family in Iowa. Funeral services will be held at Burke Lutheran Church, 5720 Portage Rd., Madison, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, with the Rev. Margo Martens presiding. Burial will follow at Burke Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
