He competed and won several medals in the Veterans Wheelchair Olympics, always pushing it to the next level. He avidly enjoyed hunting, spending time with family, watching the Packers, telling jokes, whooping people at Wii and Euchre, and coaching his daughters through the many lessons of life. James Maertz is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Tammy Boyce, Sara and Heather Maertz; parents-in-law, Jim and Marge Luther; siblings and their other halves, Steve, Randy and Lynn, Butch and Kathy, Greg, Chris and Tom Pieper; sons-in-laws, Justin Schilling, Ben Boyce and Chris Graber; grandkids Isaac, Isabella, Adelyn, Kimberly, Kiara, Lola and Jameson, and his Bestie Shadow.
