Obituary
DEFOREST- Elmer A. “Buz” Garey III, age 71, of DeForest, passed away at home on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013. Buz was born on June 30, 1942, in Manitowoc to Bud and Sally Garey. He loved spending time with family and friends and was an avid Badger fan holding football season tickets for decades. He married Linda Duhame on September 17, 2004, and the two spent nine wonderful years of marriage together.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Sally (Cramer) Garey, Elmer and Gladys Cirves; his first wife, Marilyn (Cirves) Garey; brothers-in-law, Lance Rothberger and Roger Myers; sister-in-law, Eileen Cirves; and father-in-law George Duhame. Buz is survived by his wife, three sons, three sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family or the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps would be greatly appreciated.

To the family of Elmer A. Garey,
I am sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that God is "near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." (Psalm 34;18) With sympathy,

Buz, other than your family, I believe that I have known you longer than anyone else. Remember when we met on that cold October day in 1950 right after I moved into the neighborhood. From that day forward we were always together...best buddies, we made life fun, never a dull moment...like taking my Mom's sugar dough nuts...put one on each finger and another in our mouth...we had a wonderful time. Buz, I miss you, but I know God has His arms around you and you are now free. We will be together again...I can't wait to see your grin or hear your laugh again. God Bless You, your Best Friend, Colonel (Ret) Jon Rockstad, Summerville, SC [p.s. Just for you "Go Huskers"]

What a strong person in adversity, a true friend of organizations and individual friends, and especially a loving stalwart for his family of all ages.
Peace and lots of Eagles tunes, Buzz, from Matt and Alex's mom

Forgive me Buz for all my tears
But my heart it aches with so much pain,
Why you? My precious brother
But no-one can explain.
It's life I’m told, it's life
But that doesn't help the pain
For if I could have one wish in the world
You know I’d make you better again.
You're the one who always knows what to do or say
You're the one who keeps us together,
You're the one I thought would always be here
To love me forever and ever.
A brother in a million that's what you are
Always been by my side,
Praying for a miracle each and every day
So we can all get off this rollercoaster ride.
But my words are not sent to make you sad
I simply just want to say "thank you"
For I’m so very proud to be your sister
You're so precious my big brother - I love you!
Love,
Lindi
