Obituary
MADISON/DEFOREST- Rochelle V. Juedes, age 75, went home to be with the Lord after her battle with brain cancer at the Ridges of Lodi on Sunday, August 11, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born on May 30, 1938 in Plymouth, the daughter of Earl and Verna (Kaestner) Gerber. Rochelle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. In the summer of 1960, after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh with a bachelor’s degree in music, she met her husband, Russell. They met on a blind date and two years later were married on June 25, 1960. Rochelle taught private music lessons at the Oshkosh Academy of Music until they moved to Madison, Wisconsin. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church that same year and she sang in the choir, played recorder and joined two hand bell choirs. Rochelle was also a member of the Alter Guild and Rebekah Circle. In 1977, Rochelle began working for the UW-Extension Geological Survey and retired in June 2000. In June 2005, Rochelle moved to Parkside Village in DeForest where she joined the Red Hat Society and enjoyed quilting, gardening and taking care of her beloved dogs, Molly and later Emma. She also loved taking her grandchildren to Ella’s Deli and spending time with them. Rochelle is survived by her daughter, Pam (William) Frederick of Waunakee and son, Robert (Kari) Juedes of DeForest; six grandchildren, Jamie, Amy and Jonathan Frederick and Mark (fiancé, Rebecca), Megan and Michael Juedes; relatives and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Thursday, August 15, 2013. Friends and family are invited for a visitation at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m, on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Interment will be held at a later date at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. Memorials may be made in honor of Rochelle to Olbrich Gardens or to Southern Care Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at the Ridges of Lodi and Southern Care Hospice for all their compassionate care and treatment of Rochelle. I am at home in heaven, dear ones; oh so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last. There is work still waiting for you, so you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth – You shall rest in God’s own land. When that work is all completed, Oh, the joy to see you come! I did not have the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Juedes. However, knowing Pam as a work colleague at UW-Madison, I know her mother was a wonderful woman and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. My deepest sympathies to Pam and her family. Peace be with you.

Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

I remember Rochelle as a cat and dog lover and care taker. She was a cat and dog sitter for Park Ur Pooch, Inc. for several years and I owned the business, so I got to know her well. We enjoyed many long talks at her home on the east side of Madison in the late 1980s and 1990s. To be her happiest in heaven there had better be dogs and cats surrounding her. May the wonderful memories of Rochelle comfort her family and friends.
