Barbara Eileen Shields

To Barb's children and grandchildren, I am very sorry for your loss. Your mom's obituary was so true. As a fellow employee of the Madison School District (as a teacher), I can attest to the fact that your mom was indeed a hard-worker. She was also so very considerate and helpful to all of us. She talked often of her grandchildren and various adventures with them and her children. Like many at Orchard Ridge Elementary, I was so sad to hear of her passing. We will miss her each and every day.

We will all miss her. she was a lovely woman, mother, friend to us all.

My condolences to Barbara's family - especially my former students, Eric (tuba player at Cherokee Middle!) and his daughter Alanna (general music class at Toki Middle). Your mom/grandma and I worked together many years. She spoke so highly of all of her children and grandchildren, and always shared excitement when planning to travel. I used to joke that I was a grandma, too, having the pleasure of teaching her son and granddaughter. True to the obit, she was always very caring, hard working, and was always helping others. I am so sorry the world has lost a beautiful soul. Best wishes to all of you and I hope the good memories help you through this time of sorrow.

Eric, Dana, Matt and all, Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of your mom. She was one of the kindest, hardest working people I know. Barb was always there for all of us at Cherokee--keeping the school clean and neat and never, ever complaining. And she was so proud of you!
