Bill was born on April 17, 1924, in Sparta, the son of William and Elizabeth Plummer. He attended the University of Wisconsin Madison and graduated from Marquette Dental School. His education was interrupted to serve as an enlisted soldier during World War II in Europe. After graduating from dental school, Bill returned to the active duty as an officer in the Army, and eventually was in three branches of the armed forces and Air National Guard. He retired as a Major. After his active duty, Bill and his wife, Rita Marie Hansen, who was his kindergarten sweetheart, settled in Oregon, WI to start a private dental practice and raise a family. Bill was an active member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic church, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America, Rotary, Oregon Chamber of Commerce, Nathaniel Ames Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), and Wisconsin Society of Colonial Wars. He enjoyed genealogy, cooking, canoeing the Wisconsin River, and spending weekends at his cabin on the Petenwell Flowage. Bill was an Eagle Scout, Dental Fellow, and Paul Harris Rotarian. One of his proudest moments was being selected for the Badger Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in May of 2012. Bill is survived by sons, John (Mary) Plummer of Milwaukee, Charles (Karla Mattson) of Oregon; daughters, Mayo (David) Ewanowski of Madison and Monica (Peter) Kovacevich of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandsons, Michael Ewanowski of Salt Lake City, Utah, and John Ewanowski of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Rosemary Newell; and brother, Billie. In pursuit of medical education, Bill donated his body to the University of Wisconsin Medical School. A Memorial Catholic Mass will be held at Holy Mother of Consolation Church, 651 N. Main Street, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013. Dr. Plummer was the "go-to" dentist for my mom, who greatly appreciated the wonderful care and expertise of John and sidekick Micki. I was also a patient of his for a number of years. He was a caring and kind man, and Heaven is surely a better place with his presence there. May God give your family comfort and peace in this difficult time.

I was very sad to hear of the passing of Bill. I never actually met Bill in person we corresponded via email over the last couple of years. We shared our family stories and discovered we were related via the Burke family from Gooseberry Hill, County Cork, Ireland. It was always lovely to receive an email from Bill and have a chat. He was surprised to find he had relatives in Melbourne Australia. I was very impressed he was online sharing his genealogy. It was a pleasure to correspond with you Bill, I will miss our chats. May you rest in peace with your beautiful wife Rita. To Bill's children and families we send our love and prayers to you at this sad time. Mary, Russell, Madelyn, Isabella & James (Melbourne, Australia)

So sorry to learn of Bill's passing. We belonged to the same bridge club when we lived in Oregon in the early 60s. Bill and Rita were fun to know. I recall that Bill and I worked together when we formed the Oregon Chamber of Commerce. I now live a retired life in Baraboo. Again, our condolences. Bill Mossman0

I am saddened to hear of Bill's passing. It was an honor to get to know him and to correspond with him for many years. We enjoyed sharing notes and ideas in our quest to unravel the Maine Plummer family lines. That quest will continue but Bill's work will always be a reference point. More than being a distant cousin, Bill became a good friend - one that I will miss as time goes by.
