Obituary

MONONA/MARSHFIELD-Mary Ann Wenzel, age 82, of Monona, formerly of Marshfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, July 26, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare. Mary Ann was born on Sept. 26, 1930, in Thorp, to Julius and Frances Rasmussen (Wagner) and was the youngest of six children. After graduation from Thorp High School, Mary Ann attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Marshfield where she met her future husband, Frederick J. “Fritz” Wenzel. Fritz and Mary Ann were married on Sept. 6, 1952, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Family was Mary Ann’s passion and she is survived by and will be greatly missed by her husband, Fritz; their six children, Ann of Madison, Paul (Vonesa) of Orlando, Fla., Ellen (Vince) of DePere, Jane of Madison, Tom (Susan) of Northbrook, Ill. and Mary (Brian) of Northbrook, Ill.; and ten grandchildren, Kathryn of Chicago, Ill., Alexander, Jackson, Jefferson, Zoe, Elliott and Emma of Northbrook, Ill., Elizabeth of DePere, and Anna and Samuel of Orlando, Fla. Grandma delighted in her grandchildren. All will miss Grandma’s beetle car pulling into the driveway for a visit. Mary Ann worked as a registered nurse for 40 years adjusting her schedule to her family’s needs. She loved her family, the written word, music, living on Lake Monona, a long walk, sewing, planning and organizing anything and everything, baking cookies (especially at Christmas), a wry sense of humor and her faith. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers; and sisters. A Memorial Mass will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, with Father John Silva and Father Daniel Kelly concelebrating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. followed by sharing of eulogies at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please tell someone you love them today.
