James F. Schaefer

MADISON-James F. Schaefer, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2013. James was an avid golfer, bowler, and a faithful Cardinals fan. He loved to dance and Jitterbug with his wife Marilyn. James will always be remembered for his laughter. He is survived by his wife, of 62 years; daughter, Holly Irving; grandchildren, Jaime, Nick, Mike, Jonn, and Joe; great-grandchild, Indy; and siblings, Thomas, Alice, and Sister Joan. James was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Bertha Schaefer; and siblings, Hugo, Ralph, Richard, Henrietta, Silvia, Marilyn, and Sister Delores. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at ST. HENRY’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5315 West Main Street, Belleville, Ill., at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, with Father Kenneth York presiding. A private burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. A gathering will be held at the church at 9 a.m. until the time of service. A special thanks to Dr. Orest Kostelyna and St. Jude’s Hospice.
