Obituary

INWOOD, NYC/STOUGHTON-Joan Lee, age 77, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully at home, as she wished, with the constant care of her family, especially her granddaughter, Jamie, on Thursday, May 16, 2013. She was born on May 10, 1936, in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of Frederick and Loretta (Feeney) Turner. Joan was united in marriage to William Lee on Feb. 23, 1985 in Yonkers, NY. Since retiring at the age of 62, she and her husband traveled extensively. Joan was active in the Monroe, NY Senior Center, and loved to play cards. Though she was oxygen dependent for 12 years, it never slowed her down. She loved taking her grandkids on adventures, including going to the beach and amusement parks. Joan’s faith in God was enviable, her generosity unmatched, and the strength she displayed after the passing of her daughter, Karen, pulled all of us through. Joan is survived by her husband of 28 years, William; children, Robert, Raymond (Sheila) and Noreen (Chuck Kokkonen) Hazlett; grandchildren, Jamie (Dave) Bohn, Melissa and Stephen Hazlett, Ryan, Dylan and Kate McLoughlin; great- grandsons, Thor and Leo; brother, Richard Turner; nephew, John (Darlene) Shuart; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen McLoughlin; sisters, Eileen Turner, Loretta Shuart and Rita Ryter; and brothers, Frederick “Buddy” and Edward Turner. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. ANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 323 N. Van Buren St, Stoughton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, with Msgr. Gerard Healy presiding. Joan’s final resting place will be at Gate of Heaven, Valhalla, NY. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Wednesday. Memorials may be made in Joan’s name to Agrace HospiceCare or St. Ann Catholic Church. The family extends a special thank you to Agrace HospiceCare, Msgr. Healy, and Erma from St. Ann’s. In all my varied life Aunt Joan has been a constant. The favorite Aunt of my mother Eileen [Shuart] Ramthun. Aunt Joan was someone who we knew so much about though we lived so far away. Aunt Joan deserves her rest and though I grieve for her passing I know I am selfish because her true faith ensures she goes to a better place. John 14:1 - 6 I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Fathers house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
